YOU CAN BELIEVE: On DAY ONE I will begin to make the changes our City needs now. Ten years as your City Councilor with two years as Council President, coupled with my professional managerial experience will finally bring a viable and strong approach to managing our City and I will ensure fiscal responsibility. I have lived here all my life and I understand this community. All these elements will combine to sharpen the vision and apply the energy that will take Haverhill to the next level.

2. PROVEN LEADERSHIP AND THE COMMITMENT TO TAKE HAVERHILL TO THE NEXT LEVEL

YOU CAN BELIEVE: During my terms on the City Council, I took a strong leadership role and I am proud of my accomplishments there. I have worked tirelessly, both in and out of City government office to bring Haverhill to the forefront and to network for new and emerging industries and jobs. Because I truly care about Haverhill I continue to participate in the success of our young people by fostering and supporting new ideas such as mentoring and encouraging Seniors to participate in this effort. I long ago advocated for a city-wide recycling program. This is honest Leadership. This is Citizenship.

3. AS YOUR MAYOR I WILL BRING POSITIVE ENERGY BACK TO OUR COMMUNITY

YOU CAN BELIEVE: We MUST come together. We MUST change the tone of the conversation to cooperation and understanding. We MUST all be willing to sacrifice and at the same time help each other. I will LEAD us to the place we all hope for... a purposeful, positive COMMUNITY!

2009 Candidate for Haverhill Mayor

As Mayor I will work to restore your faith in city government and your confidence that tax dollars will be well spent, getting the biggest bang for your buck.

 City Management 

The taxpayers deserve accountability for their hard earned tax dollars and a City where openness and mutual respect are cherished. I will firmly and fairly negotiate with unions to reduce costs to the City. Managers will be expected to flush out abuse and achieve performance standards before we find ourselves in a crisis situation.

 Education 

As head of the school committee I will insist on a strong, innovative, cooperative approach to education. With updated text books, measured practices and volunteer mentoring, we can and will bring the students to the highest level. This must be a community effort.

 Economic Development 

It will be my priority to attract both emerging and traditional industries to Haverhill. By aggressively supporting our existing businesses and proactively bringing new companies and re-training opportunities to the city, we will provide more jobs at all skill levels and increase revenues to ease our tax burden.

 Public Safety 

My top priority will be to provide a safe and secure environment for all citizens of Haverhill, including a rapid and timely response to all Fire and Police emergencies. I will strive to enhance community policing and neighborhoods participation.
